What happens at claim time?

Claims Process

• As soon as you think you may need to make a claim, contact your insurance adviser to let them know what the situation is.
For medical insurance this may be before you have a procedure. For other claims such as income protection it is important that you get in touch as soon as possible – don’t wait for your wait period to come up.
• If you are unsure, your adviser can advise you on whether your circumstances will warrant a claim application.
• The necessary claim paperwork will be sent to you to complete. Your advisor can help you with this process.
• The insurer will assess your claim and may request additional information directly from yourself, or directly from your Doctor and /or specialist.
• Once your claim has been assessed your insurer and the admin team will be in touch with an update.
• With medical insurance, the insurer can either refund your expenses less your excess or the insurer may pay the medical providers direct, whichever is convenient for you.
• With other lump sum, mortgage or income protection claims the insurer will advise when payments will be made.
