Private Health Cover
Giving you quality health care, when you need it most.
We offer a choice of health insurance policies that provide cover for surgical and non-surgical private hospital care:
There are 7 major providers for medical insurance in New Zealand. They each have their benefits and merits. Which one is right for you?
Hospital Cover plans are designed to help you meet the financial costs associated with diagnostic procedures and surgical treatment in a private hospital, with additional benefits such as specialist minor surgery, complications of pregnancy and childbirth, funeral benefit and hospice cover.
Additional Options
Some health insurers allow you to choose from a number of extra options to add to the base policy, enabling you to customise a policy that best suits you and your lifestyle.
• A specialist option, which covers costs related to specialist consultations and some diagnostic procedures, after referral by a GP and which do not result in hospitalisation.
• A dental and optical option
• A GP option
• An option to cover other health practitioners, e.g. osteopath, chiropractor or acupuncturist.
• A trauma/critical illness option, which gives a one-off lump sum payment when you’re facing a specific serious health condition for the first time.
• There is also an option available that gives additional cover for most pre-existing medical conditions once the policy has been in force for three years.
With the covers we recommend, you can usually choose the specialist or surgeon, the hospital and the date of treatment. It means you’ll get quality health care that you may otherwise not be able to afford.
