ACC

Important information for the self-employed and business owners

Are you getting drilled by your ACC levies?

• Do you groan each time you look at your ACC invoice?
• Did you know that your ACC cover is negotiable?
• You can save $$$ on your ACC premiums.
• Get better accident and illness cover.

If I cannot save you $500 a year on your ACC and insurance premiums or give you substantially better insurance, then I will leave your insurance unchanged.

How can you save?

Cover plus extra…
If you can’t stand paying those ACC invoices but still want to guarantee that you will get paid if you suffer an accident. Cover plus extra is for you…
• Reduce the annual levies you pay.
• Go back to work for 30 hours a week (may be more) and still get your full ACC pay out.
• Get an agreed ACC pay out – no proving your income when making a claim.
• And protect your spouse and business partners with cover plus extra too.
• Cover accident and illness

How does it work?

ACC compensates you if you cannot work thorough accident.
ACC does not cover you if you are off work through illness.
However, because you are self-employed, you can choose how much ACC you want to pay.

For example a builder…
The minimum a builder could pay is $1800 pa.
The maximum is $5600 pa.
The minimum gives our builder $22k pa in compensation if off work.
The maximum will pay our builder $92k a year.

Our builder’s example continued…
Key point #1. So… if our builder lowered his ACC payout to the minimum he’d reduce his ACC levies to $1800. This will save $3800 a year on his ACC.
Key point #2. The real advantage is that our builder can then re-invest the savings made to protect himself from illness (think heart attack, cancer etc).

Benefits

Cover plus extra and income protection…
• It’s an agreed pay out.
• You don’t have to prove your income from previous years at claim time.
• This is especially important if you are coming off a slow couple of years when revenue might be low.
• With an agreed amount you know exactly how much you will be paid.
• It helps eliminate stress.
• Both accident and illness are covered.
